The Ecosystem Learning Partnership

The Ecosystem Learning Partnership (ELP) is an experiential educational program designed to literally allow students to get their hands dirty while they learn about their natural environment, increase their scientific knowledge and gain understanding of the interconnectedness of humans and natural systems.  Please see a summary of the program here.  Adaptable to all ages and academic stages, ELP provides outdoor learning experiences integrated with classroom curricula to actively engage students in the stewardship of their natural world.

Based on a strong and unique partnership that includes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and a team of experienced professionals, the program offers a customizable, scaleable learning system that will enrich the natural environment of schoolyard properties, produce mental and physical health benefits for students and teachers alike and foster camaraderie, teamwork and creativity.

The Tamassee Group is currently seeking funding for ELP’s initiation.
